In July of 1940, RAF Pilots took the skies in their Supermarine Spitfires during the Battle of Britain, the first war campaign to be fought entirely by air forces. Their mission? To defend their homeland against bomber attacks by boldly engaging the deadly German Luftwaffes. The life expectancy of these pilots was a mere four weeks.
